Emily Deguzis

Violin and Viola Instructor

I am a Suzuki and traditional violin and viola instructor, freelancer, and frequent performer in the Greater Hartford area. I earned my Bachelor’s and Graduate degrees in Performance from The Hartt School of Music where I graduated Magna Cum Laude. While at The Hartt School I completed a rigorous two-year long-term Suzuki training course with Teri Einfeldt, former chair of the Suzuki Association of America, and hold registered Suzuki book training for books 1 through 8.

My students have been accepted in the CMEA’s Northern and Eastern Regional Middle School and High School Orchestra Festivals, New England Music Festival, Inter-El Music Music Program in the West Hartford Public Schools, Orchestras and Chamber ensembles at the Hartt School Community Division, The Hartt Suzuki Summer Institute, numerous summer music camps, and have been accepted into college music degree programs.

In addition to my work at St. Marks Academy I also maintains a large studio of private students at my Windsor studio, The Montessori School of Greater Hartford, and am on faculty at The Loomis Chaffee School and The Westminster School. Click here to view my full resume.

Dr. Charles Houmard

Piano and Organ Instructor

I am a music educator with experience teaching students of all ages, from pre-school to senior citizens.  I served on the music faculties of ivy league universities and prestigious New England boarding schools.  I have also taught overseas as a Fulbright Visiting Professor.  My primary instruments are the piano and organ.  I am also a conductor and have directed professional and amateur ensembles of singers and instrumentalists for over thirty years.  The love of teaching and enjoyment of music have guided my career.
